JR東海「そうだ 京都、行こう。」キャンペーンCMでもおなじみのこの曲は、映画『サウンド・オブ・ミュージック(The Sound of Music)』（1965・米国）で、主人公の女家庭教師マリアの部屋へトラップ家の子どもたちがやってきた嵐の夜にマリアが歌い出す劇中歌です。後にジョン・コルトレーンなど多くのミュージシャンにカバーされ、ジャズのスタンダード・ナンバーともなりました。
※アップルシュトゥルーデル（apple strudel）…リンゴを薄いパイ皮で渦巻き状に包んで焼いた、オーストリアのアップルパイ。ドイツ語ではアプフェルシュトゥルーデル（Apfelstrudel）。
※シュニッツェル（schnitzel）…主に子牛肉を薄く叩き伸ばしてパン粉をつけ揚げた、北イタリアから伝わったと言われるオーストリアの肉料理。
