How To Reset Game Data On iPhone

In this video I’m going to show you how to delete saved game data for iOS games on your iPhone or iPad.

Some games save data in different places, so you may have to look or try a couple different ways. We’ll look at two spots, and then if you still are having issues, the last resort of just deleting and reinstalling the game or app.

Since iOS 10, a lot of games save the progress data inside of Game Center. Apple has moved that data around though, now being stored in your iCloud account, so let’s look at where it can be found now, with iOS 15.

To start, open the Settings app. At the top, tap your name.

Next, select iCloud from the second section below. Inside of here, choose Manage storage.

After a moment, all of your iCloud saved storage will appear. Scroll down to the list of games and apps below, and if the game uses Game Center and iCloud to save your data, it can be found here. Choose the game you want to reset.

Again, if the game uses this method to save your data, you will see a Delete Data button. Tap that to delete and reset your game.

This is the easiest way to reset and delete your game data. But unfortunately, not every game saves this way. And each game or app will go about this its own way. For instance, I have the Mario Run app on my phone, but it’s not listed here. So, let’s look at the second way to delete this.

Open the app that you want to reset. Again, each game will be different, but the process should be fairly similar hopefully. Once the game is open, head to the main menu. You should see a menu button or settings. Choose that.

You may have to look around for this, but in the Mario example, tap About this app. Here at the bottom of this screen, you’ll find delete save data. Tap that and confirm to delete and reset the game’s data. Again, you may have to dig around to find this option, depending on where the developers put it, but you should be able to find it.

Last resort, if you cannot find the option inside of the game, and it’s not found in your iCloud Game Center, you may be able to just delete the app and reinstall it to reset. To do that, back on the home screen, just press and hold on to the app or game you want to delete, and then tap remove app from the pop up.

On the next window, tap delete app to completely delete the app from your device. You can then head back into the app store and redownload it to start fresh.

And that’s how you delete saved game data for iOS games on your iPhone or iPad.
